Cleveland Public Schools is seeking an innovative and qualified director to join our family as our elementary Reading Intervention Coordinator. We are a school that prides itself on creating opportunities and giving students hope through education.

Reading Specialist Job Description and Skills Needed
Assesses skills and needs of students to bring about student achievement and gains
Knowledge of research-based structured literacy interventions and language acquisition, specifically Science of Reading foundations.
The ability to work independently, without direct supervision
This position requires strong written and verbal communication skills
The specialist will assist teachers in tracking data necessary for monitoring student progress and determining if more intensive services and support are needed
Consult frequently with administration and instructional staff on matters relating to reading and writing instruction using benchmarks, screening assessments, diagnostics, and progress-monitoring data
Assist teachers and other instructional staff in developing strategies, skills, tools, and techniques to effectively teach all reading instruction, including modeling lessons, observations, and constructive feedback
Assist teachers in utilizing assessments and data to deliver scientific, research-based interventions targeting individual student needs
Participate in student data review meetings to help support and train staff on research based interventions and instructional strategies to add to the framework of intervention, progress monitoring, and decision-making protocols
Assist with the implementation, training, data analysis and interventions related to HB2804 Universal Screening for Characteristics of Dyslexia
Coordinate Individual Programs of Reading Instruction for all applicable students in the school building.
Coordinate with help of Federal Program director the intervention team in the building including Americorp Tutors, Pull out teacher aids, or other applicable staff.
Coordinate Reading Sufficiency Act Summer Program for applicable students.
Stay up to date on all Universal Screening for Characteristics of Dyslexia and Reading Sufficiency Act updates, and changes.
Building Test Coordinator for NWEA benchmarking scheduling and training and OSTP for scheduling and training.
Building Gifted and Talented Coordinator, including servicing students approximately 1 time a month which can also include field trips.
